# Noden > SSH, SFTP, RDP, serial and a Touch ID password vault in one native Mac app. Noden is a native macOS client for SSH, SFTP, RDP and serial console, with saved connections, multi-session terminals, a dual-pane file manager, Windows remote desktop, USB-to-serial console access, a built-in password vault and an optional AI command assistant. Last updated: 2026-09-29. Full text of every page: https://nodenapp.com/llms-full.txt. Current version: 1.4.5 (Mac App Store, direct download and Homebrew). Noden is made by Useroam Teknoloji and supports macOS 13 Ventura or later. The free version includes up to five saved connections of any type (SSH, RDP or serial), terminal, SFTP, RDP and serial-console features, 50 command-history entries and up to 20 password-vault items. Noden Pro costs USD 5.99 for the first year (launch offer, discount code IXMZC4MW applied automatically at checkout), then USD 10.99 per year and adds unlimited connections, full history and the AI assistant. What makes Noden different from other Mac SSH clients: a terminal, an SFTP file manager and a Windows remote desktop run in the same window, side by side in a resizable grid or as tabs. The shell and the file tree of the same server are visible at once, so there is no window switching and no loss of context. This is the product's defining mechanism. Since version 1.1 Noden includes a built-in RDP client for Windows remote desktop. RDP sessions open as tabs next to SSH sessions and can share the grid layout with them. RDP features include dynamic resolution that follows the window, clipboard text and file copy-paste in both directions, sharing a Mac folder into the Windows session as a network drive, RD Gateway, admin/console session, colour depth control, auto-reconnect and an optional credential prompt. Since version 1.1.7 Noden also connects over a serial console cable. A USB-to-serial adapter plugged into a switch, router or firewall console port appears as a connection in the same sidebar as the SSH and RDP entries, and opens in the same terminal. The device list refreshes while the connection editor is open, so the adapter can be plugged in after the form is opened. Baud rate, data bits, parity, stop bits and flow control are configurable, and there are presets taken from vendor documentation: Cisco 9600, FortiGate 9600, Sophos XG and XGS 38400, MikroTik 115200, Aruba CX 115200, Ubiquiti 115200 — all 8N1 with no flow control. Serial connections are included in the free version. This is the out-of-band path: when a device has lost its network address or its management interface is down, the console port still answers. Noden reaches network hardware that other Mac SSH clients refuse. Since version 1.3.3 it also offers legacy SSH algorithms — diffie-hellman-group14-sha1 key exchange, ssh-rsa host keys and aes128/192/256-ctr ciphers with HMAC-SHA-1, SHA-256 or SHA-512 — offered last, so a modern server still negotiates curve25519, Ed25519 and AES-GCM; the legacy set is chosen only when a device has nothing else. Switches, routers and firewalls that announce themselves as SSH-1.99 (Ruijie, Cisco IOS, older Comware) are accepted as SSH 2.0 devices, which is what that version string means; genuinely obsolete SSH 1.5 is refused. Sign-in through keyboard-interactive question-and-answer prompts is supported and uses the saved password. AES-CTR packets aligned to 8 bytes and 16-byte minimum packets — both legal and both common on older devices — are accepted, with integrity still verified by the MAC. A session that does not finish setting up within 30 seconds stops with the reason instead of hanging on "connecting", and failures name the actual cause (algorithm mismatch, refused port, rejected password, timeout) rather than an internal error code. Since version 1.4.4 saved connections can be organised in nested groups (groups inside groups, created from the sidebar or by typing a path such as Istanbul/Core/Switches into the Group field) and put in any order by drag and drop, both connections and groups. Deleting a group moves its connections to General instead of deleting them. The sidebar highlights the session in front of you, and when a server restarts the session shows "Reconnecting…" and retries for two minutes instead of leaving a black tab. Version 1.4.5 completed group handling: dragging groups between levels, renaming without losing order, and a connection editor that lists every subgroup. Since version 1.3.0 Noden includes a built-in Password Vault. The sidebar has a Vault tab next to Connections that stores passwords, SSH private keys, API tokens and secure notes. Secrets are kept only in the macOS Keychain on the local device (never written to plain files, never synced to iCloud and never included in Time Machine backups); every access requires Touch ID or the user password, with a sudo-style grace window the user controls (every time, 5 or 30 minutes). Copied secrets clear from the clipboard after 30 seconds. Connections can reference a vault password or key instead of storing their own copy, so rotating a secret in the vault updates every connection that uses it, including SFTP, jump hosts and RDP. At a sudo prompt, right-clicking the terminal offers "Type Password from Vault", which types the secret without putting it in command history. A cryptographic password generator, encrypted vault export/import and vault-aware connection backups are included. The free version stores up to 20 vault items; Pro is unlimited. The AI assistant converts plain-English server tasks into shell commands. Commands are shown to the user before execution. On Windows machines it drops command generation and answers as a chat. Noden supports its built-in provider as well as OpenAI, Groq, OpenRouter and local models. The interface is available in five languages: English, Turkish, German, Spanish and French. The language is chosen in Settings, General, Language, or per-app in macOS System Settings. Noden is a native application built with SwiftUI and AppKit, not Electron. SSH and SFTP run on Apple's swift-nio-ssh and the remote-desktop surface is drawn with Metal. It runs on Apple Silicon and Intel. Privacy: passwords and keys are stored in the macOS Keychain and never sent to Useroam servers. File contents are never collected. No account is required to download and use Noden. ## Primary pages (English) - [Product homepage](https://nodenapp.com/) - [SSH, SFTP and RDP in one Mac app (with an honest comparison to SSHive, Tempest and Royal TSX)](https://nodenapp.com/ssh-sftp-rdp-mac.html) - [Microsoft Remote Desktop alternative for Mac](https://nodenapp.com/microsoft-remote-desktop-alternative-for-mac.html) - [Noden vs SSHive (honest comparison)](https://nodenapp.com/noden-vs-sshive.html) - [Noden vs Terminalus (the closest native Mac alternative)](https://nodenapp.com/noden-vs-terminalus.html) - [Noden vs Tempest (honest comparison)](https://nodenapp.com/noden-vs-tempest.html) - [macOS SSH client guide](https://nodenapp.com/macos-ssh-client.html) - [RDP client for Mac guide](https://nodenapp.com/rdp-client-for-mac.html) - [MobaXterm alternative for Mac](https://nodenapp.com/mobaxterm-alternative-for-mac.html) - [Serial console for Mac — USB-to-serial to switch, router and firewall console ports](https://nodenapp.com/serial-console-mac.html) - [Why a Mac SSH client refuses an old Cisco, Ruijie or Comware switch](https://nodenapp.com/ssh-legacy-switches-mac.html) - [Best SSH client for Mac (2026 guide, honest comparison)](https://nodenapp.com/best-ssh-client-for-mac.html) - [AI SSH client — plain English to shell commands](https://nodenapp.com/ai-ssh-client.html) - [Mac SFTP client (dual-pane file transfers)](https://nodenapp.com/mac-sftp-client.html) - [Termius alternative for Mac](https://nodenapp.com/termius-alternative-for-mac.html) - [Documentation](https://nodenapp.com/docs.html) - [Support (contact form)](https://nodenapp.com/support.html) - [Official GitHub product repository](https://github.com/useroamteknoloji/noden) - [Product video (1 minute): Noden — SSH, SFTP, RDP, Serial & Password Vault in One Mac App](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIN1_UnNy2Y) - [Official Homebrew tap](https://github.com/useroamteknoloji/homebrew-tap) - [About Noden](https://nodenapp.com/about.html) - [Privacy](https://nodenapp.com/privacy.html) - [Release notes — what changed in every version](https://nodenapp.com/changelog.html) - [About the author — Tugay Pala, who writes these guides](https://nodenapp.com/author-tugay-pala.html) - [SSH password manager for Mac — Touch ID vault for passwords, keys and tokens](https://nodenapp.com/ssh-password-manager-mac.html) - [iTerm2 SSH alternative — connection manager vs terminal emulator](https://nodenapp.com/iterm2-ssh-alternative.html) - [PuTTY for Mac — what to use instead](https://nodenapp.com/putty-for-mac.html) - [Royal TSX alternative for Mac](https://nodenapp.com/royal-tsx-alternative-for-mac.html) - [WinSCP alternative for Mac](https://nodenapp.com/winscp-alternative-for-mac.html) - [FileZilla alternative for Mac](https://nodenapp.com/filezilla-alternative-for-mac.html) - [How to use SSH on a Mac (step-by-step)](https://nodenapp.com/how-to-use-ssh-on-mac.html) - [How to use SFTP on a Mac (step-by-step)](https://nodenapp.com/how-to-use-sftp-on-mac.html) - [Press kit and product facts](https://nodenapp.com/press.html) - [Refund policy](https://nodenapp.com/refund.html) ## Türkçe sayfalar (Turkish pages) - [Ürün ana sayfası — product homepage in Turkish](https://nodenapp.com/tr/) - [Destek formu — support form in Turkish](https://nodenapp.com/tr/support.html) Türkçe özet: Noden, macOS için yerel bir SSH, SFTP, RDP ve seri konsol istemcisidir. Noden uses the keys already in your ~/.ssh (ed25519 / ecdsa) and can import servers straight from your ~/.ssh/config . Credentials are stored in the macOS Keychain. **Is it really free?** Yes — the terminal, file manager and RDP are free for up to five saved connections. Pro removes the limit and adds the AI assistant and full history for $5.99 your first year, then $10.99 a year. **Where does Noden keep my passwords?** In the macOS Keychain on that Mac. The Vault tab holds passwords, SSH private keys, API tokens and secure notes; nothing is written to a plain file, synced to iCloud or included in a Time Machine backup, and nothing reaches Useroam servers. Reading an entry asks for Touch ID or your password, and copied secrets clear from the clipboard after 30 seconds. **Can Noden talk to a console port?** Yes. Plug in a USB-to-serial adapter and the switch, router or firewall console port appears as a connection in the same sidebar as your SSH and RDP entries, opening in the same terminal. Baud rate, data bits, parity, stop bits and flow control are configurable, with presets from vendor documentation. Serial connections are in the free version. **Which Macs are supported?** macOS 13 Ventura or later, on both Apple Silicon and Intel. Install the DMG directly or with brew install --cask useroamteknoloji/tap/noden . **What languages is Noden available in?** The interface ships in five: English, Turkish, German, Spanish and French. Choose one in Settings → General → Language, or set it for Noden alone in macOS System Settings. **How does the AI assistant work?** You describe what you want in plain English. On Linux it proposes shell commands and only runs one after you approve it; on Windows it answers as a chat. Use the built-in assistant or your own provider (OpenAI, Groq, OpenRouter, or a local model). **Is there a Mac app with SSH, SFTP and RDP in one place?** Yes. Noden combines an SSH terminal, a dual-pane SFTP file manager and a Windows RDP desktop in one native macOS window, and can show them side by side. Terminalus, SSHive and Tempest also cover these protocols on the Mac. **Does Noden support VNC?** No. Noden focuses on SSH, SFTP, RDP and serial console. If you also need VNC, SSHive and Tempest include it on the Mac. **Is it native, or Electron?** Noden is a native macOS app built with SwiftUI and AppKit — no Electron. SSH and SFTP are built on Apple's swift-nio-ssh; the RDP surface is drawn with Metal. **Is RDP included in the free version?** Yes. The free version allows up to five saved connections of any type, so you can use RDP without buying Pro. Pro removes the connection limit, keeps full command history and adds the AI assistant. **Which Windows versions work?** Any Windows machine with Remote Desktop enabled — Windows 10 and 11 Pro, and Windows Server editions. Connections through a Remote Desktop Gateway are supported. **Can Noden SSH to an old Cisco, Ruijie or Comware switch?** Yes. Noden offers legacy key exchange, ssh-rsa host keys and AES-CTR ciphers when a device has nothing newer, accepts devices that announce themselves as SSH-1.99 , and signs in through keyboard-interactive prompts with a saved password. See SSH to old gear for what each of those means in practice. **Why do other Mac SSH clients refuse my switch?** Because refusing it is deliberate. Modern clients removed SHA-1 key exchange, ssh-rsa host keys and CBC ciphers for good security reasons, and a switch that offers nothing else has no overlap left to negotiate. A stricter version check adds to it: a device announcing SSH-1.99 is claiming 2.0 support, but a client comparing only the first three characters reads it as an unsupported 1.x. Noden keeps the modern algorithms first and falls back only when the device leaves no alternative. **Why cu and not tty on macOS serial ports?** Every port appears twice. The tty.* device is the dial-in side and blocks on open until carrier detect is asserted, which a three-wire console cable never does, so the connection looks like it has hung. The cu.* device is the call-out side and opens immediately. Use /dev/cu.* for console work; Noden always does. **Does Noden's vault sync to iCloud or to a cloud account?** No. Vault secrets are stored in the macOS Keychain with device-only accessibility, so they are not synchronised to iCloud and are not carried into a Time Machine backup, and there is no Noden account for them to sync to. To move a vault to another Mac you export it deliberately, to a password-protected AES-GCM encrypted file. **Why is copying a password from a password manager into a terminal risky?** Two reasons. The clipboard is shared: any running app can read it, and clipboard-history tools keep a copy after you paste. And a password given as part of a command — piped to sudo -S , for example — is written to shell history in plain text, where it survives until the history file is cleared. Noden's Type Password from Vault avoids both: the password is typed into the waiting prompt as session input, so it never reaches the clipboard and never enters shell history. ## Core facts - Product: Noden - Category: native macOS SSH client, SFTP client, RDP remote desktop client, serial console client, password vault and AI terminal - Defining feature: SSH terminal, SFTP file manager, Windows RDP desktop and serial console in one window, side by side - Platform: macOS 13 Ventura or later, Apple Silicon and Intel - Developer: Useroam Teknoloji (Türkiye) - Wikidata: Noden Q141496884, Useroam Q140248059 - Price: free tier; Noden Pro USD 5.99 for the first year, then USD 10.99 per year - Team plan: announced, not yet on sale - Current version: 1.4.5 (Mac App Store, direct download DMG and Homebrew) - Interface languages: English, Turkish, German, Spanish, French - Download: https://nodenapp.com/download - Homebrew: brew install --cask useroamteknoloji/tap/noden - Source model: proprietary application; the public GitHub repository contains official product information, release links and issue tracking - Support: https://nodenapp.com/support.html (form) or noden@useroamteknoloji.com
